Independentist Party of Madeira

Independence for Madeira now!

About Us

Madeira had been know long time ago by the phoenicians, cartagians, arabs and berberes peoples. And since those times has been inhabited during some periods of time. Madeira has been a colony of Portugal since 1425, as a result of the official discovery of our isles by the portuguese in 1418. As part of the portuguese colonization Portugal invaded Madeira with thousands of immigrants during centuries.  Some were portuguese, other were flemish, other francos, and others from Africa. Now, the Madeirese people, or the Madeirenses are still struggling to attain sovereignty and independence.

HIGHLIGHTS OF MADEIRENSE HISTORY - Revised

The Independentist Party of Madeira (PIMA) was founded in 2009 with the purpose of seeking and obtaining independence by every pacific mean available. The PIMA is committed to achieving Madeira's national freedom and laying the foundation for a sound, responsible transition from our present day colonial government to full-flegged independence.
The PIMA is financed only by our members and by some Madeirense emmigrants in South Africa, the USA, Brazil and Venezuela.
This is the English version of our web site.   You will find brief explanations of how we visualize, plan and expect an independent Madeira to be.  You will also find articles and news related to the PIMA or to our struggle to achieve independence.
Because it is forbidden the legalization of regional and nationalist political parties in Madeira and in Portugal, we hope that by launching this English version of the PIMA it becomes a powerful tool to reach out to the international community and promote solidarity with our demand for freedom and justice.
We update our web-site frequently. You are welcome to visit any time and get the latest news about the PIMA. We appreciate the time you take to search our site. That is why we encourage you to write us with your comments, criticism, thoughts, questions and suggestions. You may reach us by e-mail at: [email protected]
